Wayfinder Accessibility provides a number of services to help make spaces more accessible.

TDLR compliance

In Texas, new construction and major renovation projects with construction costs of $50,000 or more may be subject to the 2012 Texas Accessibility Standards (TAS). Administered by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), these standards help ensure that facilities are accessible to individuals with disabilities. Registered Accessibility Specialists (RASes) are professionals licensed by TDLR to perform plan reviews and site inspections.

Wayfinder works with clients every step of the way from project registration to TDLR closure.

• TABS (Texas Architectural Barriers System)

  All applicable projects must be registered with TDLR via TABS.

• Project Registration Form

  Fill and upload this form via TABS to register the project with TDLR. The project must be registered prior to submitting plans for building permits.

  Please enter KAREN JONES, RAS #1817 as your Registered Accessibility Specialist on the form.

• Designated Agent Form

  While the owners are ultimately responsible for compliance with TAS, owners may designate an agent to sign on their behalf, using this form. Fill and upload via TABS.

• Proof of Submission Form

  Fill and upload this form via TABS and then contact Wayfinder to coordinate the plan review. The plans must be sent to the RAS within 20 days of being issued.

• Payment

  Upon receipt of the project via TABS, Wayfinder will invoice the owner. Wayfinder requires payment prior to commencing work on the project. Wayfinder is not responsible for deadlines missed due to nonpayment.

• Plan Review Report

  Wayfinder will review the plans and issue the report within 30 days. Wayfinder will send it to the owner and agent (if any), and also upload it to TABS. Plan corrections must be made, usually by the designer, within 70 days.

• Request for Inspection Form

  Fill and upload this form via TABS and then contact us to schedule the site inspection. The final inspection must be requested within 30 calendar days after construction is completed, and the site inspection must occur within one year. The owner must be present, unless a Designated Agent Form is on file.

• Proof of Inspection Form

  Wayfinder will bring this form to the site inspection, provide the owner or agent (if any) a copy, and upload it to TABS within 30 days of the inspection.

• Inspection Report

  Within 30 days of the inspection, Wayfinder will send the inspection report to the owner and agent (if any). At the same time, Wayfinder will upload it to TABS along with the Proof of Inspection Form. If any violations are noted, the owner has up to 270 days to make the site corrections.

• Inspection Response Form

  Fill and send this form to Wayfinder to document completion of the project. Wayfinder will upload it via TABS and request closure of the project from TDLR.
